Sustainability is a core focus and ongoing commitment for Naturipe Berry Growers.
We emphasize safe growing practices and work closely with our growers to implement sustainable techniques.
It’s more than just checking a box; it’s about ensuring a healthy environment for future generations while maintaining high-quality produce.
For NBG, that means a dedicated focus on 3 key areas of sustainability growth:
Environmental
Our environmental commitments, protecting and conservation of our resources remains our responsibility to preserve the land for the present and future generations.
Through the Research and Development Department we can trial new innovations in growing and harvesting and utilize multiple tools to build Horticultural best management practices, including Integrated Pest Management programs.
Through the work of the R&D department we have been able to retain our yield while reducing fertilizer and water input.
In addition, the implementation of technology to manage different resources such as water has been effective towards our best growing practice.
Renewable Energy
This also includes using renewable energy at the NBG Cooling Cold Storage in Watsonville, CA. That is approx. 500 Metric Tons of CO2 avoided.
Solar Energy
In addition, two other facilities they utilize also are powered by Solar. That is approx. 41 Metric Tons of CO2 avoided.
Plastic Reduction
Our plastic clamshells over the decades have been produced utilizing recycled water bottles. We have additionally optimized our clamshells by removing the paper labels and replacing with recycle friendly BOPP material.
Community
Our outreach and engagement with the community thrives through our commitment to support youth advocacy, youth development and education with local organizations.
It is our ongoing commitment to continually engage the youth of our community to reach their highest potential. Working with local high schools on job/career mentorships as well as partnering up with local organization to that support students in safe and supportive environments.
Wholesome Business
More than just a focus on “the bottom line,” this reflects of the importance of the ongoing health of our growers’ business. From quality assurance to food safety to workforce development and more, we are committed to growing for today and tomorrow.
With our dedication and focus on Quality Assurance, Food Safety, Innovation and Workforce development, we know it takes a team to support these commitments.
We promote workforce development through leadership programs within the company as well as in the Agriculture Community.
Our participation on industry boards; university education and research boards and well as commodity specific boards are part of the team’s effort to continue being an industry leader. When we are always learning, we are growing.
